Board of Trustees Meeting
September 8, 2025

The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in the Foundation Room at the library on Monday, September 8, 2025. President Karen Cathelyn called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. Members in attendance were Tom Domino, Sally Eberhardt, Lee Fluck, Jim Henson, Jan Klavohn and Monica Vorac.

Citizen’s Input

Paul Kane and Tim Pletkovich were present as was Pat Mahar.

Secretary’s Report

The minutes from last month’s meeting stand approved as printed.

Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid

Monica moved to pay the current bills. Sally seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote. Tom moved to approve the Financial Report. Monica seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.

Happenings at the Library

The Library received the Illinois State Library Per Capita Grant and the Activate History Grant from the Illinois Humanities Council. The Library will be closed on September 26 for staff development. We will have signs up in the library, it will be on our digital sign and a notice will be on FaceBook stating this.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Audit

Odoni Partners LLC finally finished the audit. They recommended that credit card purchases be printed out in the future. They hope to prepare next year’s audit by December 31.

Building Maintenance

TMI will hook up the air conditioning to the Reading Garden vestibule and Marv Verstraete will install a heating unit. The fiberglass benches are ordered and FineLine has agreed to deliver them to the art groups for painting. The benches from Galva are on order.

Reading Garden

The discussion about trees/shrubs to be placed in the Reading Garden continued. Pat Mahar spoke with Steve’s Nursery and these trees were recommended: Spring Snow Crabapple, Blue Beech, American Hornbeam. Pat will get photos of the leaves in the fall to the board members so a decision can be made at next month’s meeting.
