Board of Trustees Meeting
September 9, 2019
The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in Foundation Room A at the library on Monday, September 9, 2019. Board President Ray Rogers called the meeting to order at 5:37 p.m. Trustees in attendance were: Lee Fluck, Carol Luciani, Paul Pardo, Kim Reynolds and Ray Roger
Note: some of the Library business on the agenda was conducted until 5:50 pm, when the board went to the City Council chambers for a hearing about the use of land directly next to the library. At 7:30 pm, the members returned and addressed the remaining issues.
Citizen’s Input Deb Wyffels noted that the public should be able to contact board members via email. Several members volunteered to get library email addresses in order to receive/respond to any public comments. A few changes with regard to our website were pointed out. A motion to address the changes regarding website information was made by Kim and seconded by Lee, with all members voting yes.
Secretary’s Report The minutes for the August meeting stand approved as printed.
Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid Paul made a motion to pay the bills, Kim seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously by roll call vote.
Library Director’s Report Please refer to Claire’s written report.
Property The Board discussed the proposed variance for the use of the land adjacent to the library. Of the six members in attendance, five voted against this proposal and one abstained.
At 8:18 pm, Ray moved to go into Executive Session, Lee seconded it and all members agreed. Deb Wyffels left the room.
At 8:39 pm, Ray moved to go out of Executive Session, Lee seconded it and all members agreed. Deb Wyffels returned to the room.
Christmas Party The employees’ Christmas Party has been booked at Central Schoolhouse Inn.
Insurance Presentations from Brad Toone of Hanford Insurance Agency and Beth Winkleman of State Farm were made to the board. After the insurance agents left, Lee made a motion to stay with Hanford Insurance. Paul seconded the motion, and all in attendance voted yes.
Management Claire reminded the Trustees that they need to watch the video on Management.
Tax Levy Jim was not prepared to discuss this subject at this time; next month he will have details.
Project Next Generation We haven’t received the check yet, but it is for the STEAM activities for the Middle School kids and the community.
Adjournment With no further matters before the board, the meeting ended at 8:48 p.m.
