October 2025 Board Meeting

Board of Trustees Meeting
October 13, 2025

The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in the Foundation Room at the library on Monday, October 13, 2025. President Karen Cathelyn called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. Members in attendance were Tom Domino, Sally Eberhardt, Lee Fluck, Jim Henson, Jan Klavohn and Monica Vorac.

Citizen's Input

Tim Pletkovich and Pat Mahar were present.

Secretary's Report

The minutes from last month's meeting stand approved as printed.

Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid

Monica moved to pay the current bills. Lee seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted "yes" by roll call vote. Sally moved to approve the Financial Report. Jan seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted "yes" by roll call vote.

Happenings at the Library

Claire reported that at a Directors' Meeting, many libraries are opting to have a "review audit" done rather than a full audit.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Budget

Odoni wanted our records for the next audit by October 1; they got them October 2.

Reading Garden

Pat Mahar reported that there are two pine trees that are growing into the new trees; he will get Two Brothers to take them down. The fiberglass benches are due to be delivered to the art groups next week. Boyler's Ornamental Iron says that steel is priced high now; we will watch for the price to drop before we order the pergola to be manufactured.

New Business

Plumbing Issues

A pipe burst on a Saturday. Jake Boone repaired it but warned that it could very well happen again, as the chlorine from the water treatment plant comes here in a high concentration and damages the copper pipes. Board members expressed concern about this but no action was taken.

Trees/hydrangeas

Steve's Nursery is waiting for first freeze to dig up the trees we requested.

Tax Levy

The Levi Ordinance needs to be submitted by December. Tom moved to accept the ordinance and submit it; Jan seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted "yes."

Public Comment

The City modified the time they allow members of the public to give input to three minutes during its meetings. Lee made a motion to revise our Public Comment limit to three minutes. Tom seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted "yes" by roll call vote.
