November 2025 Board Meeting

Board of Trustees Meeting
November 10, 2025

The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in the Foundation Room at the library on Monday, November 10, 2025. President Karen Cathelyn called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. Members in attendance were Tom Domino, Sally Eberhardt, Lee Fluck, Jim Henson, Jan Klavohn and Monica Vorac.

Citizen’s Input

Pat Mahar and Paul Kane were present.

Secretary’s Report

The minutes from last month’s meeting stand approved as printed.

Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid

Sally moved to pay the current bills. Tom seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote. Monica moved to approve the Financial Report. Karen seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.

Happenings at the Library

Fineline delivered the three benches to the three art galleries in town. Our plumbing problem has been resolved. Sheilah Wigant-McGee is working on concrete books for the children to sit on. Our parking lot lights are on a timer, and when we “fall back,” the timer must be reset. Our electrician has us on his list; he will reprogram them when it’s our turn. We will put a notice on our website and Facebook page explaining this to area residents. Columbus Day is not a federal holiday but Juneteenth (June 19) is, so it was agreed to delete Columbus Day from the 2026 library holiday schedule and replace it with Juneteenth. It was agreed to change the starting time for our board meetings to 6 pm, beginning next month.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Reading Garden

Pat reported that the ornamental crab apple trees have been planted. Since the work is done on the vestibule, no canopy appears to be needed. Sheila’s bid for seven custom-designed stools that look like a stack of books was presented. The cost is $11,500 with $5,750 paid now. Estimated completion and placement is Spring 2026. Karen made a motion to accept the terms of the bid and Jan seconded it while all members present voted “yes.”

NEW BUSINESS

Budget

Boyler’s Ornamental Iron bid $24,300 for the small pergola. Monica made a motion to accept the bid and Lee seconded it. All members present voted “yes.” The large pergola will be bid out.
