Geneseo Public Library District
Board of Trustees Meeting
November 11, 2019

The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in Foundation Room B at the library on Monday, November 11, 2019.  Board President Ray Rogers called the meeting to order at 6:37 p.m. Trustees in attendance were:  Lee Fluck, Janet Klavohn, Carol Luciani, Kim Reynolds, Karen Turner and Ray Rogers.  Because of a medical condition that requires treatment in Iowa City on Mondays, Paul Pardo has been excused for meetings missed.

Citizen’s Input   No citizens were present.

Secretary’s Report   A thank you card from Bethany Winkelman of State Farm Insurance was read aloud. She thanked the Board for allowing her to give us a bid on insurance. The minutes for the October meeting stand approved as printed.

Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid   Kim made a motion to approve the Financial Report and Karen seconded the motion; it passed unanimously by roll call vote.  Carol made a motion to pay the bills, Lee seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously by roll call vote. Claire noted that the library has received donations from Birdies for Charity and private patrons.

Library Director’s Report   Please refer to Claire’s written report. 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Adjacent Property   Ray and Betsy Brudos met with John Loucks and offered him $80,000 for the property adjacent to the library.  He refused the offer.

Weather Delays    Claire reminded the Board of the policy on bad weather:  if the schools are closed, the library is closed.  If the schools delay opening for two hours, so does the library.

Board Christmas    Lee is working on securing a date for the Board’s Christmas meal.

NEW BUSINESS

New Yearly Plan    Claire announced that the due to technology changes, our library’s website needs to be updated and made ADA accessible.  A Google-certified team, Websites To Impress, has offered us a fair and reasonable contract to do the updating, fix broken website links and maintain the site from month to month. This plan will go into effect January 1, 2020.

Adjournment   With no further matters before the board, the meeting ended at 7:30 p.m.
