Board of Trustees Meeting
May 12, 2025

The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in the Foundation Room at the library on Monday, May 12, 2025. Because the Board was in transition and had no president, Library Director Claire Crawford called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. Members in attendance were Karen Cathelyn, Sally Eberhardt, Jim Henson, Jan Klavohn and Monica Vorac.

Citizen's Input

There were no citizens present.

Secretary's Report

The minutes from last month's meeting stand approved as printed.

Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid

Jim moved to pay the current bills. Jan seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted "yes" by roll call vote. Monica moved to approve the Financial Report. Sally seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted "yes" by roll call vote.

Happenings at the Library

The kaleidoscope is very popular. The automatic inside door has been repaired. The Butterfly Garden is finished and the sign will be installed in two days.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Technology

IronClad will be doing a presentation for a library group.

Election Results

Certified notices of election from the County Board of Elections were received by Jim Henson, Sally Eberhardt, Monica Vorac and Jan Klavohn.

NEW BUSINESS

Swearing In/Oath

The four recently-elected members took the Oath of Office.

Nomination of 2 Board Members

Monica nominated Lee Fluck and Tom Domino, who had the next highest votes in the election, to fill the two two-year terms on the Board. Karen seconded the motion and all members voted "yes." Lee took the Oath of Office.

Election of Officers

Monica nominated Karen as President, Sally seconded the motion and all members voted "yes" with one abstention. Karen nominated Monica as Vice President, Jim seconded the motion and all members voted "yes" except for one abstention. Monica nominated Jim as Secretary, Karen seconded the motion and all members voted "yes" except for one "no." Jim nominated Lee as Treasurer, Monica seconded the motion and all members voted "yes."

Acceptance of By Laws

Karen moved to accept the By Laws. Lee seconded the motion and all members voted "yes."

Employee Parking

Sally made a motion that staff does not need to park in the North lot; they and patrons can park near the staff door. Jim seconded the motion and all members voted "yes." This is effective immediately.

Reading Garden

This is progressing nicely; the cement should be poured in August.

Salaries

Monica made a motion to give all staff a 5% raise as of July 1, the beginning of the fiscal year. Sally seconded the motion and all members voted "yes."
