March 2025 Board Meeting

Geneseo Public Library District
Board of Trustees Meeting
March 10, 2025

The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in Foundation Room A at the library on Monday, March 10, 2025. Because Board President Karen Turner was out of town, Karen Cathelyn called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. Members in attendance were Lee Fluck, Jim Henson and Monica Vorac.

Citizen’s Input

David Jost was present.

Secretary’s Report

The minutes from last month’s meeting stand approved as printed.

Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid

Monica moved to pay the current bills. Karen C. seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote. Lee moved to approve the Financial Report. Jim seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.

Happenings at the Library

Copies of the By Laws were given to board members to review and vote on next month. A statement regarding diversity and equity will be added to them.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Reading Garden

The two white rocking chairs have arrived and were shown at the meeting.

Audit

Jim Luikart will contact the firm doing our audit to see when it will be ready. Claire will contact Kim Hoffman of a local accounting firm that area libraries use and we will use them next year.

NEW BUSINESS

Bids-Reading Garden

Pat Mahar attended the meeting and stated that the Pre-Bid Meeting will be March 19 and bids will be due on April 3.

Railing in front

The Board went outside to look at where the proposed railing would be. There were varying opinions as to placement and length, so the issue was put on hold.

Snow Removal

Simple Man does the sidewalks and Blizzard Busters does the parking lot. Blizzard Busters quoted doing all; Claire will contact both providers.

Update CB Room

The cost to upgrade this room so video conferencing can be held here is $10,956. Karen C. made a motion to accept the proposal, Lee seconded it and all members present voted “yes.”
