July 2025 Board Meeting

Board of Trustees Meeting
July 14, 2025

The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in the Foundation Room at the library on Monday, June 9, 2025. President Karen Cathelyn called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. Members in attendance were Tom Domino, Sally Eberhardt, Lee Fluck, Jim Henson, Jan Klavohn and Monica Vorac.

Citizen’s Input

There were no citizens present.

Secretary’s Report

The minutes from last month’s meeting stand approved as printed.

Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid

Monica moved to pay the current bills. Tom seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote. Karen moved to approve the Financial Report. Monica seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.

Happenings at the Library

Claire wrote and received a grant from the State of Illinois for $19,136 for Children’s Resources and Programming. The concrete work should be completed this week in the Reading Garden.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Reading Garden

The Board chose colors for the concrete compass.

Budget

Jim reminded the Board that the new financial year began July 1. The IMRF audit is done.

NEW BUSINESS

Kaleidoscope

Claire has written an art grant and hopes it will be approved so we can use it to purchase the Blue Note Kaleidoscope.

Flowers Native to IL

A list of plants native to IL was given to the board; we will refer to it when the purchase of flowers is made.

Reading Garden-Pat

The glass for the entryway to the Reading Garden is on backorder; Pat is hoping it will be in by August. Creative Curb should finish their work by Friday. The cost of the fiberglass “book” benches has increased since Pat first inquired; Claire will call the owner to see if she can get a discount. There was discussion about whether an alternative could be found.
