Board of Trustees Meeting
December 8, 2025
The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in the Foundation Room at the library on Monday, December 8, 2025. President Karen Cathelyn called the meeting to order at 6:12 pm. Members in attendance were Sally Eberhardt, Lee Fluck, Jim Henson, Jan Klavohn and Monica Vorac.
Citizen’s Input
No visitors were present.
Secretary’s Report
The minutes from last month’s meeting stand approved as printed.
Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid
Monica moved to pay the current bills. Jan seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote. Sally moved to approve the Financial Report. Karen seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.
Happenings at the Library
Geneseo Train Club donated $50 to the Reading Garden. Smith Studio sent Claire photos of the design Dave is working on for one of the Reading Garden benches. We’ve had nearly 16,000 check-outs of downloadable books! Santa will be at the library on December 10 for a photo op.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Reading Garden
Pat Mahar is taking bids on the pergola. We anticipate the garden will be completed in August 2026.
NEW BUSINESS
Bereavement
A Bereavement Policy was reviewed and discussed. Monica made a motion to adopt the policy. Lee seconded the motion, and all members present voted “yes.” The policy will go into effect immediately. Employees will receive a copy of the policy and it will be placed in the Employee Policy Manual.
Update on Technology:
The Central Bank Room is finished. It has a 77” tv that can be used for Zoom calls. Three laptops were repurposed. Pod 2 of the computer bank is being updated: three 34” monitors for the vision-impaired are being installed. Lee is repurposing a desk for wheelchair accessibility. A kiosk containing our card catalog will be installed soon. Two of the three computers are being replaced in the Genealogy Room. The old reader/printer is obsolete and doesn’t work but there is a company who will purchase it for parts.
At 6:39 pm the Board went into Executive Session. No actions were taken. At 6:54 the Board came out of Executive Session.
Adjournment
With no further business before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 6:56 p.m.
