April 2025 Board Meeting

Board of Trustees Meeting
April 14, 2025

The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in the Central Bank Room at the library on Monday, April 14, 2025. Board President Karen Turner called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. Members in attendance were Karen Cathelyn, Lee Fluck, Jim Henson and Monica Vorac.

Citizen’s Input

David Jost, John Loucks and Deb Wyffels were present.

Secretary’s Report

The minutes from last month’s meeting stand approved as printed.

Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid

Monica moved to pay the current bills. Karen C. seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote. Karen T. moved to approve the Financial Report. Monica seconded the motion and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.

Happenings at the Library

Angie Snook’s presentation was well-received; 92 people were in attendance. Library Week went well. Food for Fines was a hit.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Reading Garden

An update on the donations was given. The Geneseo Rotary Club has purchased three benches. Claire stated that two families will purchase benches in honor of loved ones.

Audit

Odani & Associates are done with the audit.

By Laws/IMRF

By Laws will be voted on next month. One addition was made to the Vacation, Sick Time and IMRF benefits. Monica made a motion to accept the VST&Benefits, Karen C. seconded it, and the motion passed with 4 votes yes, one abstain.

Recognition

Karen Turner was recognized by the Board for her years of service.

NEW BUSINESS

Swearing In

Newly-elected board members were not sworn in; the County Clerk has not certified the election. Swearing in will take place next month.

Building

Pat Mahar presented a computerized drawing of the vestibule. Fineline Construction was awarded the project for $18,700. Karen C. made a motion to accept their bid; Monica seconded it, and all members in attendance voted “yes” by roll call vote.

Employee Parking

This item was not on the agenda but was discussed last month and addressed again tonight. Board members believe it is in the best interest of senior citizens that do not have handicapped parking stickers but have difficulty walking to use the area where the employees park. Employees will be asked to park in the North lot. A bid to install a sidewalk to the North door will be requested.
