Author Melanie Holmes answers the question, “What is there to do in Illinois that’s fun and won’t break the bank?” Holmes has researched hot spots in entertainment, arts, food, parks, culture, history, sports and even geology. She has tips for day jaunts, weekend trips and weeklong excursions—all just a road trip away!
Holmes is an award-winning author, speaker, and lifelong travel enthusiast. Her previous four books were on history, diversity, art and family.
Born and raised in rural northeast Illinois, she credits her mother with introducing her to the joy of the open road. She acknowledges her husband with helping her to collect three more decades of new travel episodes.
Join the fun as Holmes shares insider tips on traveling. Plus, she’ll present a segment called “Windshield Travel,” for those with physical challenges. For all those who want to know, her book 100 Things to Do in Illinois Before You Die holds the answer!
