March 12, 2018

The Board of Trustees of the Geneseo Public Library District met in Foundation Room A at the library on Monday, March 12, 2018.  President Bill Menendez called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. Board members in attendance were Christine Bergren, Lee Fluck, Paul Pardo and Ray Rogers. Deb Wyffels, Assistant Director, was also present.

Citizen’s Input   Anne Meyer-McCright, a prospective board member, was there to observe.

Secretary’s Report   The minutes from last month’s meeting stand approved as printed.  A letter from the Geneseo Chamber of Commerce was read.  The Library had donated items for the Chamber’s Annual Dinner.

Financial Report/Bills to Be Paid.  The Financial Report was reviewed and will be filed for the auditors. Paul made a motion to pay the bills, Chris seconded the motion, and the board unanimously agreed to the motion by roll call vote.

Library Director’s Report   Please refer to Claire’s written report.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Snow Days    The policy on Snow Days was discussed.  A final version will be brought back to the Board for review.

Director Review    Bill signed the document authorizing Claire’s raise.  It will occur on July 1, 2018.

Seal Minutes    It was agreed that as in the past, the minutes from Executive Session from last year will be sealed and put in the safe.

NEW BUSINESS

Autism  A video on autism was shown during the meeting in accordance with the requirements of the Per Capita Grant.

Library Week   Claire announced that to celebrate Library Week, the library will offer “Food for Fines” and do a 50/50 drawing with Fareway in which the winner gets $100 of groceries.

Taxes  The free tax preparation that is offered through the Kiwanis is very popular.  If the clientele gets much bigger, there may have to be some restrictions on who is served.

New Board Member   Ray made a motion to fill the empty board term with Anne Meyer-McCright.  Paul seconded the motion and it passed by voice vote, all members voting “yes.”

Adjournment   With no further matters before the board, at 8:02 p.m., the meeting adjourned.
